A Letter from Dr. Joe Helms, Acus Founder and President
In this season of healing, I ask to write for your help to make a difference in the lives of our wounded veterans and active military.
After five years of training at Nellis Air Force Base, we have graduated 350 military doctors who now treat thousands of patients with medical acupuncture. They work in every family medicine clinic in the U.S. Air Force.
Our current class is the fourth generation of resident physicians who practice where “Think Acupuncture First” is the working culture. What happens as a result of that?
- We have seen a 45% reduction in opioid prescriptions among patients at Nellis AFB who had medical acupuncture added to their care.
- Our alumni tell us that patients discouraged by incapacitating pain, disturbed sleep and harrowing memories, no longer think of suicide when medical acupuncture is included in their care.
- Physicians tell us that practicing medical acupuncture is a strong antidote to their professional burnout.
- Our utilization studies confirm that patients are more satisfied with their care, and physicians are more satisfied with their medical capabilities.
We need your support to continue our work. Funding cutbacks risk the closure of our training program in 2020.
You are receiving this letter because you believe in medical acupuncture. You believe in providing drug-free pain relief for our country’s service members and veterans.
Please keep us going with your tax-deductible donation. Help us restore the vitality and laughter of those wounded in service. They deserve the healing that our trained physicians can provide.
Thank you,
Dr. Joe Helms, Acus Founder and President
